Action Alert! Email The LA City Council: Vote No on Nury Martinez Power grab on the Backs of CD10 Residents!
Last October, the City Council, acting on a motion introduced by the Council President Nury Martinez only 24 hours earlier, suspended Councilmember Mark Ridley-Thomas without input from CD10 residents.
This disenfranchised CD10 constituents by denying them representation by the candidate of their choice. It also denied the Councilmember the presumption of innocence and due process as well as his compensation and benefits.
The Council President now says she will appoint Herb Wesson to represent CD10. The person who unseated our Councilmember should not be in charge of replacing him. That person will be beholden to her, not CD10 constituents.
We urge the Council to not appoint someone to represent CD10 and that Councilmember Ridley-Thomas be given the opportunity to resume his seat.
Please consider sending an email to the Council to share your opinion.

Subject Line: Vote No on Nury Martinez Power grab on the Backs of CD10 Residents!
I write to respectfully request that you oppose Nury Martinez’s motion (Council File: 22-0174) to appoint termed out Herb Wesson to the CD10 seat.
This is a power play to tie up another vote to consolidate her power and help in her bid to become acting mayor - which would erode checks and balances at City Hall.
There has been no transparency or public process that seeks feedback from CD10 residents!
Any person she appoints would be beholden to Martinez - not accountable to 10th District constituents.
Please vote no on any appointment motion.
Thank you for your consideration.
